Some Assembly (May Still Be) Required

(AKA Sowing the beads of construction - that, as we shall see, is indeed *THE* worst pun. Ever.)

It never ends... GAS (Gear Acquisition Syndrome) never ends. (And also saying, "It never ends." Is that a self-fulfilling prophecy? Self-generating irony? Insert snake-eating-its-own-tail metaphor.) One is enough. Lots is never enough. This one started like the "Sting" 'P' fretless: I saw a neck and decided to build a bass around it. Once more, eBay offers up something très cool: a neck with block markers like a Jazz, but stamped with the Precision model name on the headstock. It just screams to be something different. I have fretted and fretlesses; 4- and 5-strings; Jazzes and Precisions. But no BEAD!!! A four that goes low like a five. Fantastic!! To the parts box!!!!!

After hitting eBay a few more times, I've managed to locate what I need for the build. The following pictures (one in sunlight, one with a flash) should give a good idea of a visual parts list. This time, I intend to document the process as it unfolds....

(Please note that the timeline is looser that a detuned F# string; it will be in order but not in real time, so to speak.
